We don't believe in cutting corners. If a recipe takes longer, it takes longer. If an ingredient isn't right, we don't use it. The rumors around here are good — and they're earned.
Burleson, Texas
A neighborhood bakery and grocery on West Ellison Street — where every loaf is baked from scratch and every item on our shelves is something we'd keep in our own pantry.
Pantry essentials, sourced locally
Old Town Rumors started with a straightforward idea: what if a local bakery and grocery store actually prioritized quality over convenience? Not speed. Not scale. Just good food, made carefully, sold at a fair price to the people who live nearby.
We're on West Ellison Street — not hidden in a strip mall, not pretending to be something we're not. We bake what we know how to bake, stock what we'd actually use, and treat every customer like a neighbor (because most of them are).
Our ovens start before dawn. Sourdough loaves with a proper crust, flaky pastries, daily breads, and seasonal specialties — all made in-house with flour, water, salt, and time. No frozen dough. No shortcuts. Just the kind of bread that makes your kitchen smell like an actual bakery.
We stock the shelves with what we'd keep in our own cupboard — local honey, small-batch sauces, quality olive oils, artisan cheeses, and the everyday essentials done right. If we wouldn't buy it ourselves, it doesn't make it onto our shelves.
